Let’s talk about ‘The Butterfly Effect.’ It’s this idea that a small change in one place can lead to huge consequences somewhere else. Like, flapping a butterfly’s wings in Brazil can cause a hurricane in Texas. Pretty wild, right?

So I’m at the gym, and I’m on the treadmill, trying to get through my workout. I’m thinking, ‘What if my decision to skip this workout today causes the universe to spiral into chaos? What if my lack of running leads to a global catastrophe?’

I’m picturing it now: ‘If I don’t finish this treadmill session, my missed workout could set off a chain reaction leading to a worldwide shortage of avocados!’ I know, it sounds absurd, but that’s the Butterfly Effect for you.

Then I look at the person next to me, and they’re on the elliptical, and I think, ‘Maybe they’re the hero who’s saving the world with their cardio. And here I am, possibly causing an international incident over skipping a workout.’

So I push through the last few minutes, thinking, ‘If I just keep going, I might be averting disaster. Maybe I’ll save the world from an avocado apocalypse or at least from me being out of breath.’

Next time you’re skipping a workout or making a seemingly small decision, just remember: You might not be changing the course of history, but you’re definitely keeping yourself in shape and avoiding the chaos of a missed gym session. And if nothing else, you’ll have a great excuse for why you’re sweating it out on the treadmill!
